Auto Corner driving support for suicide prevention

Auto Corner

Auto Corner has been supporting the local mental health support network through their donations to the Grapevine Group, Change the Game and Run for MI Life for 3 years.

In 2020 they continued to throw their support behind increasing awareness of mental health & suicide prevention with another year of fundraising totalling over $16,000 distributed to Grapevine.

That puts the total raised for mental health & suicide prevention in the local community for the last three years at just over $66,000.

Dealer Principal Georgia Thomson said the business is a long-time supporter of Suicide prevention in the region, supporting groups that assist the local community.

“Over the past three years we have seen more people openly talk about Mental Health, in the community and at Auto Corner - if we can help one person through our efforts, then our partnerships will be a success,”

“Grapevine Group in particular is a great local organisation who rely entirely on community support and is run solely by volunteers. Since 2004 they have continued to raise awareness and provide vital suicide prevention education in the community free of charge.”

“Suicide and mental health issues are an important issue for our region and supporting this cause is vital if we want to reduce the stigma around mental health issues and reduce the statistics in our region. Grapevine Group needs support so they can continue to educate our community on how this topic can be tackled head on.”

“We are here to lend our voice, and actively participate in generating more awareness. We found this to be a deeply important issue to our staff and we are honoured at the opportunity to be involved in supporting a cause that touches so many families in the community.”

Debbie Knight, Grapevine Group President said “It is such vital work that Autocorner is funding. The funds raised go towards providing safeTALK suicide prevention training to the Mackay region. Grapevine relies entirely on the local community’s support to be able to offer the training for free and we are so grateful for the donation.

“Auto Corner’s contribution to date equates to over 800 safeTALK places and that has the potential to make a massive difference for our community. It will help many people learn to identify thoughts of suicide, know what to say to those experiencing them and where to link them to life-saving help.”

Auto Corner will always continue to support the community through their sponsorships and partnerships with community groups and charities which include Junior AFL, Mackay Cutters, Magpie Crusaders, Mackay Toyota Nebo Rodeo, the Mackay Show Society and the Cattle Industry.

The whole team at Auto Corner thanks all the customers and businesses who chose to purchase local, as it’s your support that enables us to continue giving back to the community.
